Chair

Leslie Johnson was born in Atlanta, Georgia, lived in New Jersey and Tennessee. She and her family began summering in Tamworth in 1970 and have lived here since1990. As a teacher and Episcopal priest’s wife, she spent her life in the realm of caring and service. Her family experienced TCNA’s care and enthusiastically supports its mission of no fee nursing care with concern and comfort for every home in Tamworth.

Vice Chair

Maureen and her husband moved from Portland, OR, to Tamworth in 2017. A dietitian since 1973, Maureen worked with dialysis patients since 1985, and was also the dietitian for the kidney and liver transplant programs in Oregon. She and her husband enjoy music, and both sing in the Mount Washington Valley Choral Society. She joined TCNA 2019.

Treasurer

June joined the TCNA board in 2015, having retired to Tamworth after a long career in academics, first as a professor (physiology, cell biology, biochemistry) at Tufts University, and then as Provost and Vice President at two universities in Virginia. June sees Board membership as a meaningful way to use her scientific and administrative experience by supporting TCNA's mission in meeting the wellness needs of our citizens.

Secretary

Nina joined the TCNA board in 2011. Having grown up in Connecticut, and graduating from college, she made a move to the Mt. Washington Valley and has never looked back. Nina and her husband have lived in Tamworth for 30 years, raising two great kids. She has enjoyed several professional positions in the Valley and served on a variety of boards. Being closely involved with the TCNA has been one of the most rewarding aspects of living in this special little town.

Board Member

For over 50 years, Mary was a physical therapist and educator focusing on clinical practice and research. With her husband, Dr. John Watkins, they practiced and taught in several cities, but their hearts were always at home in Chocorua. Returning in 2012, Mary joined the TCNA Board to support this one-of-a-kind service providing health care to the Tamworth community.

Neysa graduated from Eastern Michigan University in PE, and was a champion Collegiate pentathlete. With an extensive background coaching competitive gymnastics, she is a certified gymnastics official, judging throughout New England, including Special Olympics. In 2015 Neysa and Kimball moved from Massachusettsand own the Farmstand B&B in Chocorua, growing fruits and vegetables, catering, and having concerts. Focus: Developing positive active lifestyle habits.

Board Member

Lorraine moved to Tamworth in 1996. Soon after moving she felt like it was home due to the friendly people and Tamworth’s small town atmosphere. She spends time committed to community service. In 2009 she joined the Tamworth Community Nurse Association, a wonderful and unique one of a kind organization that offers free support and health care for the community. Lorraine is proud to serve as a Board member.

Board Member

Beth McCarthy started her healthcare career in 1971 as a nurse's aide
at Boston City Hospital; then completed LPN and RN programs. She has
worked in hospitals, home health, and primary care. She has also
volunteered with a free clinic, community EMS, health teams in Haiti
and Dominican Republic, as hospice care.
Beth and her spouse have lived in Tamworth for the past twenty years.

Board Member

Ed Parsons is from Beverly, Mass. He first worked in the mountains for the Appalachian Mountain Club. He arrived in Tamworth in 2012, where he appreciates the strong sense of community. His life experience includes elder care and hospice.

Board Member

Maud grew up in Massachusetts and was an elementary teacher in Connecticut and Oregon before settling in New Hampshire in 1992. She moved to Tamworth in 1996 and is happy to stay put in this lively and caring community. After retiring from teaching in 2016 she has enjoyed doing part-time work in eldercare. She looks forward to working with the TCNA Board.

Emily resides in Tamworth with her husband, Nathan and two young boys, Henry and George. Along with a great passion for hiking and skiing, Emily has a love for midwifery, home birth and early childhood development. In 2019 she joined the TCNA in hopes to bring focus on mothers and children as well as prenatal and postpartum care to our growing community.

Executive Director

Jo Anne Rainville RN has served as the Executive Director of TCNA since 2001. A graduate of Salem Hospital School of Nursing, she has spent the preponderance of her career in striving to keep people of all ages with health challenges safely in their homes. "TCNA is a nursing practice like no other and it is an honor to serve this organization and the Tamworth community."

Nurse / Phlebotomist

Pam joined TCNA in 2017. She is a graduate of Tewksbury Hospital School of Nursing and resides with her family in Moultonborough. She and husband Carl have 4 children — Brandon, Cameron, Owen and Samantha — along with a menagerie of pets. Her expertise, calm manner and quirky sense of humor will put you at ease as soon as you meet her.

Administrative Assistant / Digital Content Manager / MOW Coordinator

Marletta joined TCNA in 2014 with an extensive array of skills which allowed her to adapt to the unique needs of TCNA as our Administrative Assistance, Digital Content Management, and Meals on Wheels Coordinator. She brings quality professionalism and a broad range of computer and online technical skill sets. She is currently working towards her bachelor’s in marketing and Social Media at SNHU.

Administrative Support

Peg joined TCNA in 2016 providing backup administrative and phlebotomy services to the busy office. She grew up in Tamworth and has served as an EMT in the Tamworth Rescue, a medical secretary at Tamworth Family Medicine, and a phlebotomist at Lakes Region General Hospital (LRGH). During her downtime she enjoys spending time in the garden and with her four grandchildren.

TCNA Medical Director
Dr. Irwin is a graduate of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his internship and residency through the Maine-Dartmouth Family Practice Residency program.
He is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, an award bestowed upon few who have distinguished themselves through service to family medicine, advancement of health care, and by professional development through medical education and research.
