Surviving Sudden Death, Loss and Grief, February 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th

On Wednesdays, February 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th, the Tamworth Community Nurse Association (TCNA) will offer another of its “Get Healthy Tamworth!” programs, this month entitled, “Surviving Sudden Death, Loss and Grief,” at 6:15 pm for about 90 minutes, at The Cook Memorial Library in Tamworth Village.

In the recent years, our community has been confronted with tragedy after tragedy, more sadness than it seems possible to bear. Sudden death is difficult no matter what the circumstances, but circumstances can make it more difficult and harder to accept. So, what can we do? The best way we know to deal with sudden death, loss and grief is to speak of it to one another. Don’t keep it buried inside like stoics. Dare to voice the pain and the emptiness. Ask aloud “How could this happen?” or “Why?” We wish TCNA had a magic wand that could make this all more bearable. Alas, we do not. What we can do is provide a warm, supportive environment for folks to gather and talk. We all have to go through the process of grief. None of us has to do it alone.

TCNA will be offering a four week grief support group. The facilitators will be Diane Johnson LMHC, Carol Tubman RN and myself. We will meet for 4 weeks at the Cook Memorial Library each Wednesday in February the 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th at 6:15 pm for about 90 minutes. Perhaps together, we can find some solace and come to terms with so many of the emotions that we wrestle with. Your participation is key to the success of this effort. If you have been affected by recent sudden losses in any way, please come. We need you. We all need each other.
