Congressman Chris Pappas accepts invitation to speak in Tamworth on Soaring Prescription Costs

At the invitation of the Tamworth Community Nurse Association (TCNA), U.S. Representative Chris Pappas (D-NH) will appear on Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 4:30 to 5 p.m., at the Tri County CAP building on Route 16 in Tamworth.
“One of the biggest concerns residents have is how to afford the skyrocketing costs of prescription drugs,” said Jo Anne Rainville, RN, Executive Director of TCNA. “This problem is not limited to Tamworth, so to have the Congressman come here, to the center of Carroll County, will allow many residents to voice their concerns.”
Rep. Pappas will explain what steps Congress is taking to ensure affordable medications. There will also be an opportunity to have a brief question and answer period when residents can share their experiences and raise concerns, thoughts and suggestions.
The Congressman born and raised in Manchester, won his seat as Representative for the NH 1st District in 2018, following his graduation from Harvard College in 2002. As a member of the state’s Executive Council, Chris worked with governors of both parties to implement Medicaid expansion, expand treatment and recovery services, approve funding for family planning providers, and support renewable energy and infrastructure projects.
It’s so important that the challenges that increasing prescription drug costs present for our friends and neighbors in Carroll County, and elsewhere in rural NH, be heard, but also that their needs be considered as our elected officials move forward to take action to improve the situation.” said Jennifer Selfridge, Prevention Resource Coordinator with the Carroll County Coalition of Public Health (C3PH), that is co-sponsoring the Aug. 13 event.
The vision of the C3PH is that Carroll County residents enjoy good health, a safe environment, and opportunities to succeed and thrive at all phases of life through the proactive, coordinated and comprehensive delivery of essential health services.
The Tamworth Community Nurse Association has been serving the residents of Tamworth for 98 years with no fee for service and is a model for rural healthcare in America. The Association also offers free educational forums on healthcare related topics. Just recently, TCNA was honored by receiving “The Chairman’s Inspirational Award” from the Lakes Region Planning Commission. “We are a one of a kind healthcare organization that was born out of the farsighted vision of our founders.” said Rainville. “We consistently try to stay proactive in our efforts to prevent disease, not just treat it.”
The event is free of charge and open to all. For further information, contact TCNA at 603-323-8511 or visit their website at www.tamworthnurses.org.
