On Saturday, November 14th, twelve of us met at the trailhead for the Brook Path in Wonalancet. This hike was a pleasure from beginning to end, walking along Wonalancet Brook for 1.1 miles to Locke Falls and then returning the way we came.

Starting out we could see the fields of Helen Steele's farm beyond the trees. We passed Elephant Rocks, where she swam as a child. Crossing the snowmobile bridge, we climbed up to where the trail continued down along the brook past the old Wonalancet hydro dam. We walked down to the brook just below the dam and inspected the old structures and wooden dam that was purposely breached in a planned release. From there we continued down the trail to Locke Falls. The last steep section of trail before the falls was negotiated smoothly by those who chose to do it. The return to our cars, though the same trail along the brook we had come on, was in reverse so new.
