Dr. Brian Irwin, of Tamworth Family Medicine, recently brought two representatives from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center to the office of JoAnne Rainville, RN, who serves as executive director of the Tamworth Community Nurse Association (TCNA), in Tamworth, NH to see how a small, rural healthcare center can work.

Both interns, Leah Matthew and Shannon Younce, had expressed an interest in the field of rural healthcare and were very intrigued by how the TCNA works, considering that it offers free nursing care to all residents of Tamworth without charging Medicare or Medicaid, and that it has done so for 98 years now.

Both interns were impressed by TCNA's model for affordable community healthcare and they were both welcomed back by Rainville to spend more time and have more of their questions answered.
