Senator Jeanne Shaheen and participants get the scoop on the work of the Tamworth Community Nurse Association (TCNA) from Jo Ann Rainville, RN of the TCNA. The TCNA is the only one of its kind in the United States.
It’s estimated to save Tamworth, NH residents $500,000 a year in health care costs!! Senator Shaheen held a round table discussion on prescription drug prices and its impact on communities, on July 2nd, 2019, at The Gibson Center in North Conway, NH.
The increased interest in understanding the mechanics behind a sustainable rural healthcare model for local communities became the topic of discussion, recently, when Dr. Brian Irwin, of Tamworth Family Medicine, brought two representatives, who expressed an interest in the field of rural healthcare, from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center to TCNA, to see how a small, rural healthcare center can work.
In addition, in June, TCNA was the recipient of the Lakes Region Planning Commission (LRPC) first-ever 'Chairman’s Inspirational Award' for TCNA’s model of sustainability and longevity as a rural nursing healthcare service.
